DOI, 2010 is Gonna Be Fun
Posted by on December 15, 2009
Hey all,
I know that there are a few weeks left until January 1st takes us all by the throats, but as we have no real plans for the next few weeks (except to hang with families and learn to like eggnog), I think that we can officially say that Bishop Allen’s 2009 is coming to a close. 2009 was a good year. Our new album was released. A heavy supply of touring led us to various cities, states, countries and air-spaces all over the western world. We ate a lot of good food, we met a lot of good people and 4/5 of the band even saw Fleetwood Mac in concert. (Full Disclosure: I am the other 1/5). A big, crazy year indeed. Thanks to everybody that made any of this possible in any way (except for the angry gods that made me miss the FM show)

But there is no rest for the wicked pissa, so we will get back to making songs and playing shows in the very near future. In fact, we are playing a show on January 15th in New York, opening up for The Yummy Fur. This is VERY exciting news for the band, as this has been one of Christian and Justin’s favorite bands for a long, long time. What makes it super crazy, is that T.Y.F. has been disbanded for the last ten years or so. This show is part of a mini-tour in which they are playing the US for the first time! Sooooooo, the fact that they are playing at all in NYC is sort of unreal, and we all feel extremely fortunate just to be a part of this show. Come be a part of history. It’s at a newish venue in Brooklyn called Lombardy (171 Lombardy st. in Greenpoint)
Advance Tickets available started on TUESDAY 12/8/09 at Cake Shop, Bruar Falls, and via WYR? at http://whatsyourrupture.bigcartel.com/product/yummy-fur-bishop-allen-german-measels-mcdonalds-surprisors
So that’s the pressing matter-at-hand, but read on for more 2010 show details, and a couple of random pics and memories from the most recent tour.
Deejays Again
Posted by on December 07, 2009
Waaaaaay back in the day, Justin and I were college radio deejays, on a show called the The Record Hospital. It’s having its 25th anniversary, and the two of us are headed up to Cambridge to do an anniversary set. Yes, we’ll be playing all your favorites from ‘95 and ‘96: the Monorchid, GeroGeriGeGeGe, Charles Bronson, etc. Music from when we were as likely to be squirming on the ground during a show as standing. See above.
If you live in Cambridge or Boston, you can listen on 95.3 FM. We go on Tuesday night at 2AM. You can also get the stream here: http://www.whrb.org/streams/whrb.m3u. We’ll post the whole show and our playlist when we’re done.
They Came From The Ground

Hey, this is kind of random, but me and a friend wrote an XBox game, and it just went up on XBox Live. It’s called They Came From The Ground. It’s oddly addictive: you’re a little circle and you hit a ball over a net, trying to score points against your mortal foe. Also, in the world of the game, you both grew up in the ground. Hence the title. I wrote a couple songs for it—no words, just some riffs Justin and I had kicking around, but the music turned out really well. DIY Gamer game just put up a review of it, in case you’re curious, and here’s the official XBox page.
Inside XBox Live , you can find TCTFG at Game Marketplace -> Indie Games -> All Games -> T. Check it out! I’d love to hear any comments. The friend I wrote it with is ‘King Chris Coyne,’ referenced in our song Eve Of Destruction, by the way.

Hey all,
I realize we are having a few technical difficulties with our website. It’s server related mumbo jumbo, and we hope to have all of the site up-and-running as soon as we can.
In the mean time, WE ARE ON TOUR. As I write this, we are 2 days into the tour and we’re feeling healthy and strong and enjoying the company of our tourmates Darwin Deez and Throw Me the Statue. Good bands and we are on our way to some great cities. So, I know you can’t see the whole site, but you CAN see the tour dates, so you should come to shows and if you have any questions that you had hoped to find out via this website, you can ask us in person:
